THE 2018 IMPY AWARDS

The Fifteenth Annual Impy Awards, the Improv Miami Prizes 2018, were held in December in South Florida, and awarded South Florida troupes for excellence in improv and recognize contributions to the world of improvisation in other media.

The Impy Awards were founded in 2004 to reward excellence in improv comedy in South Florida. While there were many ways to get recognized for excellence in film, theater and TV, there really wasn't a way to garner recognition for the excellent work being done to make people laugh.
In December of 2018, the Improv Miami Prizes proudly announced the winners of the Annual Impy Awards, or The Improv Miami Prizes 2018.

In addition to these Impys, ImprovMiami.com had competition in additional categories to receive recognition for excellence and contribution to improvisation as an art form. This is more than a focus on performance, but on their impact on the general public understanding improvisation as an art form.

Those receiving recognition in these additional categories were:

  • Best Stand-Up Venue 2018 - The Palm Beach Improv
  • Best Improv TV Show 2018 - Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO
  • Best Improv Film 2018 - Duck Butter by Miguel Arteta
  • Best Sketch Comedy TV Show 2018 - Saturday Night Live on NBC
