Winners of the 2008 Improv Miami Prizes or 'Impys'

Miami-Dade, Florida, December 23, 2008 - ImprovMiami.com,
a guide for South Florida improvisational theatre, announced
the winners of the Fifth Annual Impy Awards, the Improv
Miami Prizes 2008.
Nominees for recognition included the categories for improv troupes
in various fields as well as Best
Improvised TV Show, Best Improvised Film, Best Sketch TV Show,
and Best Stand-up Venue. These awards are given by ImprovMiami.com
to recognize the unique talents of the troupes in South Florida
and excellence in the improvisational artform.
Designed to promote improvisation as an art form in South Florida,
the Impys are positioned to remain an annual event that
will help the artistic endeavors of the local improv scene and
foster local talent to assist the broader arts community. Additionally,
it is hoped that these awards will help local troupes receive
the recognition for excellence they deserve.
South Florida's top improv troupes were honored in the
event featuring winners for various categories. Addional recognition
was given for Best Stand-up Venue, Best Improvised TV Show,
Best Sketch Comedy TV Show and Best Improvised
Film.

Best Sketch Comedy Troupe 2008 - Impromedy
Best Corporate Comedy Improv

In addition to these Impys, ImprovMiami.com
had competition in additional categories to receive recognition
for excellence and contribution to improvisation as an art form.

Best Improv TV Show 2008 - Reno 911 from Comedy Central
Best Improv Film 2008 - Men's Group by Michael Joy (Australia)
Best Sketch Comedy TV Show 2008 - Saturday Night Live
The event is seen as a way to help promote excellence in craft
and to celebrate the different approaches and uniqueness of the
different troupes in South Florida.
